Streamline your workflow and level up your Notion pages with these Notion tips and tricks. Below is a collection of design tips, hidden features, and other interesting block relationships in the program. I have a feeling at least one will be a valuable addition to your page. Scroll to the bottom for a new block type too!

1. To-Do Boxes

How it works

  1. Create a todo block.

  2. Change background color.

  3. Enter + tab.

  4. (optional) Turn indented block into text.

 

2. Code Snippet Archive

How it works

  • When a code block is dragged into a database, a select property for all code languages will generate.

 

3. Transparent Callout Icon

How it works

  • Upload a transparent png file into a callout icon to create a blank block.

 

4. Quote Size & Database Lists

How it works

  1. Drag an inline list database into a quote block.

  2. Change quote size to Large.

 

5. Daily Block Template

How it works

  1. Create an inline template button or database template.

  2. Type "@" + "today".

  3. Select "Today - Date when duplicated.”

 

6. Centered Header

How it works

  1. (optional) Change the background color of a block.

  2. Change the block type to Math Equation.

  3. Insert → \Large\textsf{This is a large header}.

 

7. Drag and Drop into groups

How it works

  1. Drag item from Database A to Database B.

  2. Database B is grouped.

  3. When the toggle of a group is closed, you can drag pages into it.

 

8. Links in page title

How it works

  • To create linked page type "@" + search for page.

 

9. Simple Non-Database table

How it works

  • This is a new feature! A simple non-database table can be generated through the block menu under Basic Blocks.
