13 Notion Shortcuts To Make Your Life Easier

For the past month, I’ve made note of what levels up my Notion experience and what holds me back. Fortunately, the pros outweigh the cons, and a big part of my mastering of the program is learning the shortcuts. If you are new to Notion or want to know how to use the program better, here are Notion shortcuts that make life 10x easier for me in my workspace.

1. Navigate To Parent Page

Navigate to the direct parent of the current page.

CMD + Shift + U

 

2. Navigate To Page Switcher

Navigate to a menu to search and change current page.

CMD + P

 

3. Change Notion Block Types

To change one block type, insert /into[name of block type] after block text.

To change multiple blocks, select all blocks and trigger

CMD + /

 

4. Open And Close Notion Sidebar

This one is essential for users utilizing the sidebar heavily.

CMD + \

 

5. Hide And Open All Toggles

Show and hide all toggles in a page.

CMD + Alt + T

 

6. Duplicate Notion Block

Quickly duplicate the block your cursor is in.

CMD + D

 

7. Copy Link To Clipboard

Copy link to current page to the clipboard. If the page is a database, you can paste and turn into a linked database elsewhere.

CMD + L

 

8. New Page In New Window

There are two ways to open a page in a new window/tab.

To open highlighted page block

CMD + Shift + Enter

To open page with mouse

CMD + Click

 

9. Reload Notion Page

Is your Notion page stuck? Quickly reload the page with this shortcut.

CMD + R

 

10. Turn Notion Block Into Page

Turn the block your cursor is in into a page.

CMD + Alt + 9

 

11. Rename Link Page Title

After creating a page link inside a block, you can change the title of the page without clicking through.

Highlight + CMD + Shift + R

 

12. Navigate To Recent Page

Go back and forward between pages without clicking the page arrows.

To go back one page

CMD + [

To go forward one page

CMD + ]

 

13. Change To Dark-Mode

This shortcut is a must! Change light-mode workspace to dark-mode and vice versa with a click of the keyboard.

CMD + Shift + L
